Last night (November 14th) I had the pleasure of being the guest of Robert Tang & his wife Beverley Cayton-Tang, owners of DanceScape, at an event called Footloose & Fancy Feast. This was the 6th Annual of the event.
I first met them when they contacted me after my appearance on Dragons’ Den. They also appeared on the show, but although like many before and after them, they didn’t make a deal, their business has gone from strength to strength through sheer hard work.
They now have 4 dance studios which are always “hopping” with experienced and wanna be dancers. Dancing is great fun, great exercise and a great stress reliever. Do check them out at http://www.dancescape.com and sign up for dance lessons that will change your life.
Robert’s mother, Judy Tang, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2009 and passed away in August 2012. The DanceScape Endowment Fund (you can find more details under the “about” page on their website) was established to honour her courageous battle. She, along with Robert’s father Aaron, were passionate about the Arts and especially Ballroom & Latin Dancing. (Aaron was at the event dancing and taking photos.)
Their journey has led them to seek out other entrepreneurs and business leaders to work towards a common vision that will advance the technical and business skills of creative artists, and improve the quality of life of members of our community through Arts & Culture, Recreation, and Health Support Services.
When I met Robert and Beverley the Fund was just a dream and I had the pleasure to help with a small donation. Their fundraising activities focus on fun services and products that create personal growth, health & wellness, and financial support for fund beneficiaries: Breast Cancer Survivors; Entrepreneurs from the Creative Arts field; Senior Citizens facing Financial or Health-Related Challenges; and Underpriviliged Youth/Teens & Children. This is a wonderful cause and if you would like to donate please contact Robert, Beverley or myself.
Here is a photo of Robert and Beverley at the event, which was also supported by the Burlington Downtown Business Association. There were 3 restaurants sampling their food, – The Queen’s Head, HoneyWest and Amaya. Other businesses sponsors were Peninsula Ridge with wine samples, Specialty Beer from Nickel Brook Better Bitters, Steeped Tea and Sweetness Cupcake samples. There was even a photographer from Carol Rame Wedding & Event Planners to take your photograph. Other supporting businesses included David Jockheck Jewellers, The Oyster, Beaver & Bulldog, and The Black Pearl Lingerie. We were entertained by The Milton Concert Band Swing Ensemble and Gigs Entertainment.
Congratulations to all involved in making this a wonderful event.
