World Cancer Day Feb 4th 2013

When I attended the World Conference on Breast Cancer in Hamilton in June 2011, I had the pleasure to meet a wonderful lady named Rita Banik from India.

She delivers important information regarding breast cancer across her home country. She is such an inspiration that I want to share the fact that she helped organize a walk on February 4th 2013 to recognize World Cancer Day. The local newspaper covered the event.

A worldwide disease                               World Cancer Day in candles

No matter where in the world you are,  you can be affected by cancer. However, depending on where you live, help may or may not be available. I don’t mean just the right diagnosis, surgery or treatments but the support that is needed after the trauma of having had cancer.  Some women don’t have access to manufactured breast prostheses, mastectomy bras or swimwear. They have to improvise with what resources they have. Thank goodness we women are natural survivors and will find something to help us cope with whatever is thrown at us.

We are all part of the Human Race so let’s give support to one another when we can.
