Let me introduce you to my new Grand-dog, we think her name is going to be Willow. She is nine weeks old and a schnoodle.
We are all excited to meet her which got me thinking about why we like new things. When you have been through breast cancer, life changes, we have to look for new bras, new swimsuits, a new thing called a prosthesis and the most disconcerting – a new wardrobe. Depending on the results of surgery you may not be able to wear the clothes that you used to wear, they may be too low at the front, they may be a bit too transparent and revealing.
Although the prospect of having to find all these new items seems daunting, it’s very exciting when you actually find what you like and what you feel comfortable in.
But remember, you may not have to buy new bras or swimsuits, you might be able to adapt the ones you have, you can put pockets in them to accommodate a prosthesis. If you don’t sew you can take them to a seamstress and have them put a pocket in for you. You can also try wearing a lacy cami under a low-cut dress or blouse, for a whole new look.
So don’t look at it negatively – enjoy the shopping, and celebrate when you look in the mirror at the new you!
